Dismissed Immediately by the Media, Ron Paul Carries On

The only honest candidate running in the GOP primary, and the one most likely to bring about real, positive change, has been dismissed by the media and political consultants alike.

Ron Paul, upon launching his presidential candidacy, was dismissed by the media as crazy, off the political spectrum, unpatriotic, out of touch with voters and all other sorts of nonsense. Predictably, Paul, the only candidate who would actually create any real change in this country, is trailing in the polls and seems unlikely to do anything during this presidential election but perhaps take enough votes that his libertarian ideals will be further heeded by more mainstream politicians.

Thus far, each candidate remaining in the GOP primary has won at least one state except for Paul. While he remains immensely popular throughout the U.S., that popularity doesn’t necessarily translate to winning individual states. He’s been focusing primarily on caucus states, indicating that the grassroots following he enjoys plays better in those states. Paul has recently placed third in Nevada, second in Minnesota and fourth in Colorado. Asked if Paul is "electable" – a distinction typically reserved for those who look good on camera or can ready very well from a teleprompter – his supporters and staff say yes. They continue to look ahead.

Noted Paul spokesman Gary Howard in an e-mail, "Well, the next contests in this race are of course Arizona and Michigan. But for us Washington state is where we've focused more resources--and after that some of the other caucus states coming up on Super Tuesday." Noted Republican consultant Matt Mackowiak, summing up the mainstream, do-nothing world of "real" politicians, "I don't know anyone who believes Ron Paul's going to be the nominee - on a professional level. He's having really a quite a marginal impact on the race right now. And I don't see anything likely to change that."
