Katy Perry Divorce Finalized
The divorce proceedings for Katy Perry and Russell Brand have already concluded, indicating that the couple reached quick agreements on mutual assets.
The two-year marriage of Katy Perry and Russell Brand has officially ended in divorce, although the legal date of the divorce will not occur under California law until July. Despite swirling rumors that their split would be hotly contested and drawn out, the opposite appears to be the case. Both parties filed paperwork indicating that they had agreed on the division of all assets, so the court granted the divorce only six weeks after the initial filing from Brand.
In the divorce proceedings, Katy Perry's maiden name was fully restored, although few if any had ever seen her married name used. Moving forward, it's expected that we'll see quite a bit more of Katy Perry, and probably a proportionally less amount of Russell Brand. Newly single, Perry will get a built-in image boost and we should expect that she'll be making the interview rounds in the coming weeks to address the split and announce how she's ready to "move on" with her life.
For Brand, things won't be all that bad either. The UK star will probably continue to be visible in the US, but his real star power is most intense in the UK and Europe. Look for him to re-establish himself at home before venturing back into the US mainstream. He's talented and funny, so it's likely that he'll continue to get film and television roles, at least for the foreseeable future.
With the Grammys on the horizon, Katy Perry will now be free to get back into the spotlight. And Brand will now be free to resume his career outside the moniker of Katy Perry's Husband.
